Leaders who have disruptive leadership capabilities are the future

5 years ago I began to ask if organizations were firing the leaders needed (with the leadership capabilities that would be increasingly needed) to navigate ongoing disruption.

$366 Billion is spent each year on leadership development and organizations continue to get frustrated with just 14% of organizations that ‘buy’ such leadership development perceiving it as a positive return on that investment. 

I conducted over a year’s worth of research and discovered that future leaders need a range of different leadership capabilities to successfully navigate ongoing disruption. These leaders are not being recruited or developed for these capabilities and are often marginalized or fired.

I wanted to help organizations begin seeing the ‘hidden gems’ that leaders with disruptive leadership capabilities brought to those organizations - and begin to show how these kinds of leaders are being overlooked in leadership recruitment and development activities.

Through doing this, I realized that fear and traditional perceptions of what being disruptive meant have been holding organizations back from truly embracing this kind of leader.
